MOSCOW, February 27 - RAPSI. Rusal Foil, whose Moscow office was searched in a tax evasion case on Tuesday, has appealed the ruling of the Moscow Commercial Court which upheld a decision by tax authorities to collect an additional 189.34 million rubles (over $6 million) in taxes, fines and penalties from the company, the court told RAPSI.

In early February, a tax evasion case was opened against Rusal Foil CEO Igor Kasyanov. Investigators believe that Rusal Foil has not paid its income and value-added taxes in full. Rusal Foil rejects the arguments of the Federal Tax Service, which are thought to be the basis for the Investigative Committees conclusions. The company also said that the ruling of the Moscow commercial court had not yet come into force.

Rusal Foil is part of the packaging division of Rusal, the world's largest aluminum producer. The division includes four foil producing plants. In 2012, Rusal increased foil and packaging production by 6% to 86,000 metric tons.
