MOSCOW, October 4 (RAPSI, Oleg Sivozhelezov) - Russia’s business ombudsman Boris Titov claimed that the number of detained defendants in business crime cases had increased, according to the press service of Business Against Corruption public center.

The situation does not improve despite the ongoing work on this issue in cooperation with Russian authorities, particularly prosecutors, Titov said during center’s meeting.

Detention is often necessary for investigative activities, but unfortunately in many cases investigation is not being conducted, the ombudsman said earlier.

According to the Business Against Corruption chairman Andrey Nazarov, only 0.1% of entrepreneurs are under house arrest or travel restrictions, he said.
