DUBAI, July 8 (RAPSI, Margarita Kislova) - Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood has called for an "uprising" in the country against those trying to steal their revolution with tanks, the local media report on Monday, citing the group's statement.

The statement followed an incident in which at least 35 were killed and dozens injured in shootings at a sit-in protest in front of the Republican Guard headquarters in Cairo.

The Freedom and Justice Party, the religious group's political arm, urged "the international community and international groups and all the free people of the world to intervene to stop further massacres and prevent a new Syria from developing.

An armed group attacked the Republican Guard building in Cairo late on Sunday night. An officer was killed in the clash, and around 40 servicemen were injured. The military fired back.

The area of the conflict has been blocked and some 200 rioters arrested. An investigation is underway.

The Egyptian army on Monday strengthened its foothold in the capital, placing guards in Tahrir Square and at all government agencies. The military and security forces have also blocked supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi from holding open-ended rallies in Rabia al-Adawiya and Al-Nadha squares.
