MOSCOW, December 10 - RAPSI. The State Duma Security and Anti-Corruption Committee head Irina Yarovaya has submitted a bill that would impose criminal liability against anyone who, after having already lost his or her driving license on the basis of a drunk driving offense, is found to commit certain offenses while driving under the influence, a State Duma spokesperson told RIA Novosti Monday.

A new article has been introduced to the Criminal Code to fine repeat drunk drivers who have already lost their licenses to drunk driving offenses 200,000 rubles ($6,458), or to impose upon them compulsory community service of up to 480 hours, forced labor of up to two years, or an arrest for up to six months.

The bill proposes establishing a prison term of between 2 and 10 years if a person died as a result of a car accident and depriving the drunk driver of the right to drive for up to three years.

If there were several victims, the bill proposes imprisonment for 5 to 15 years, and license suspension for up to three years.

The Criminal Code stipulates imprisonment for up to seven years if one person died, and up to nine years if there were more victims in the accident.

If the drunk driver did not have a license, then he can be placed under arrest for up to 15 days and fined up to 30,000 rubles ($968).

A driver who repeatedly committed the administrative violation can be fined 50,000 rubles ($1.614) and deprived of the right to drive for up to three years.
