MOSCOW, April 16 (RAPSI) – Federal Ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova and submitted 8,587 applications to prosecutors, including 591 to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in 2020, the press service of Russia’s High Commissioner for Human Rights told RAPSI on Friday.

Upon her complaints prosecutor’s offices conducted 4,400 checks as to human rights protection in criminal proceedings and issued 385 response acts, including 182 prosecutor's citations and 203 demands to rectify law violations. As a result, 49 investigative officials were brought to disciplinary liability.

Moreover, rights of 622 participants in criminal cases were restored. In particular, 5 court sentences, 313 investigators’ orders to dismiss criminal complaints, procedural investigators’ rulings on suspension, 18 decisions on dismissal of criminal cases were reconsidered and 30 criminal cases were opened.

Also, after the application of Moskalkova, a restrictive measure was changed for 9 people, according to the statement.
