MOSCOW, June 26 – RAPSI. Russian opposition leaders Ilya Yashin and Boris Nemtsov have asked the Investigative Committee to launch probe into protestors being pressured to testify in the case of mass rallies in central Moscow and on falsifying evidence, their attorney Vadim Prokhorov said.

In their application Yashin and Nemtsov cite extracts from various media articles, which describe how individuals involved in the rallies on Bolotnaya Square have been subjected to pressure.

The attorney believes that the detained individuals are pressured and investigators are attempting to force them to falsify evidence to illegally prosecute opposition leaders.

Previously, opposition whistleblower Alexei Navalny filed a similar application.

Mass opposition rallies began in Moscow on May 6. Clashes with the police flared up during a march across Moscow, which had been approved by the authorities. Tens of people on both sides were injured. The police detained over 400 protesters. The court has so far put 13 people into custody for taking part in the rallies. Several have been charged with calls for mass unrest.

Under the case on mass riots, the court placed under house arrest 18-year-old Alexandra Dukhanina and arrested another 12 people.

Opposition figure Mariya Baranova has been released under her own recognizance.
