MOSCOW, May 14 (RAPSI) — The Russian Red Cross Society (RRCS) is now at an active stage of revival and has great potential as an infrastructure element for implementation of humanitarian projects at the national and international level, according to the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova held a meeting on promotion of the RRCS activities. The event was also attended by Labor Minister Anton Kotyakov, Head of Russia’s consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova and top representatives of a number of other ministries.

It was very pleasant to hear about the readiness of the ministries for interaction and productive work. At the RRCS congress held on April 23, an ambitious development program was announced. One of the points of this program is the restoration of partnerships with federal authorities, business partners, representatives of various organizations with which the Red Cross has historically interacted. Therefore, the event that took place a day earlier is undoubtedly a landmark for us, Pavel Savchuk, a member of the Civic Chamber and RRCS Chairman said.

Savchuk reminded that the main function of the organization is to assist the state and society in solving humanitarian problems. RRCS specifically focuses on rendering assistance to individuals, as well as on the work in the social sphere. Thus, the Red Cross Society urgently responded to the tragedy that happened in the city of Kazan. Together with Sberbank, RRCS announced a fundraising campaign for the families of those who was injured or died in the incident, the RRCS Chairman said.
