MOSCOW, April 26 (RAPSI) — Russian Rights Commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova received more than 10,000 incoming applications in the first quarter of 2021, the press service of the Ombudsman’s Office informs on Monday.

The said number of applications is by over 40% above the figures registered in 2020, the statement reads.

In the first three months of 2021, the Ombudsman received 10,323 appeals, whereas in the respective period of 2020 the number was at 7,051 (+ 46%), and in 2019 - 8,725 (+ 18%). Of the total number of complaints, 427 (4%) are collective applications, the press service said.

Among the total complaints received, the largest number traditionally concern the criminal sphere followed by the applications about social services like housing, social security, health care, labor rights. 

In 2020, the Ombudsman acting in cooperation state authorities could protect the rights of 493,713 people.
