MOSCOW, August 23 (RAPSI) – Investigators in the Rostov Region of Russia have launched a criminal case over negligence that led to the infliction of major damage and death of a person after a large-scale fire ravaged Rostov’s center, press-service of the Investigative Committee stated on Wednesday.

The fire occurred on August 21 and resulted in major damage to 123 buildings. On August 22, during the removal of the fire’s ruins, a person with signs of burns was found dead in one of the burnt houses.

Investigators examine circumstances of the fire and plan to make officials accountable for failing to meet standards of fire safety.
