MOSCOW, July 20 (RAPSI) – A former member of parliament has been arrested in Kyrgyzstan on suspicion of assisting the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS), RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing Kyrgyz security services.

The name of the MP has not been disclosed.

Last week, Kyrgyz security services held two anti-terrorist raids. Four extremists were killed and seven arrested during a raid in the center of Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The alleged terrorists wounded four security agents.

The group allegedly planned to conduct a series of terrorist attacks in Bishkek on July 17, during the celebrations of Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic feast of breaking the fast, and to attack a Russian air force base at Kant.

The former MP from the Democratic Party of Kazakhstan Bright Path (Ak Zhol) in parliament allegedly supplied money and weapons to the terrorists.
