MOSCOW, November 11 (RAPSI) – Russia will not curb broadcasting of foreign tv channels, and the current legislation does not prevent CNN from broadcasting in Russian cable TV, says the statement released by the Russian Ministry of Telecommunications on Tuesday.

On Monday, Vedomosti daily reported that CNN will cease its broadcasting on Russian cable before the year is out, as it lacks the proper license.
The telecom regulator added that CNN can obtain the required license with ease, going through the necessary legal motions .

Spokesperson of Turner International, which owns CNN, Claudia Coles told TASS that CNN will cease its broadcasting in Russian cable TV networks starting from December 31, 2014 over recent amendments in Russian media legislation. The company will keep only a CNN office in Moscow.
