MOSCOW, August 20 (RAPSI) – Unidentified hackers siphoned off classified data on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 which went missing on March 8, The Star newspaper reported Wednesday.

The incident reportedly took place a day after the plane disappeared from radar.

Computers and email accounts of Malaysian officials including those of Department of Civil Aviation and National Security Council, involved in the search of the plane were allegedly hacked. About 30 computers were infected by malware, CyberSecurity Malaysia chief executive, was quoted as saying.

Malaysian cybersecurity agency and Interpol were investigating the alleged hacking as the stolen data was transferred to a location in China.

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing disappeared on March 8 with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board.

On March 24, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said that the missing plane crashed in southern Indian Ocean, which was confirmed by satellite data.
