MOSCOW, May 16 (RAPSI) - Alleged CIA officer Ryan Fogle, who worked undercover at the US Embassy in Russia and was detained by the Federal Security Service on Tuesday, will leave Russia in a few days, a well-informed source told RIA Novosti in Moscow.

"The usual deportation practice is fast. This time the actions will be taken with reasonable promptness," he said, confirming that the diplomat will most likely leave Russia in a few days.

Russia and the United States "will try to avoid spurring tensions around Fogle's case but rather focus on the positive aspects of their relations," the source added. On Tuesday, the Foreign Minister declared the third secretary of the US Embassy's Political Section accused of espionage persona non grata and demanded that he leave Russia as soon as possible.

Fogle is believed to have offered $1 million a year to a Russian special service agent for supplying helpful information, based on a letter divulged by the Federal Security Service (FSB).

On Wednesday, US Ambassador Michael McFaul was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry headquarters for a meeting on a US diplomat's actions incompatible with his status. The US Ambassador has so far avoided commenting on the incident, ignoring the intense media interest.
