MOSCOW, December 29 – RAPSI. The Russian Foreign Ministry claims that the situation with Russian citizen Anastasiya Zavgorodnyaya, whose children were taken away by Finnish authorities, is worsening.

The Finnish social service withdrew four children children from their mother on suspicion of child abuse in early October which caused a public outcry. The Russian Foreign Ministry and Children's Rights Commissioner, Pavel Astakhov, intervened.

Later Zavgorodnyaya was allowed to stay with her children under the supervision of social service officials.

On November 15, the social service again took away her children because of Zavgorodnyaya's alleged lack of compliance with a rehabilitation program.

On December 26, the social service decided to transfer Zavgorodnyaya’s children to another orphanage.
