MOSCOW, March 16 (RAPSI) — The State Duma has passed in the third and final reading amendments to the national Code of Administrative Offenses envisaging fines for the absence of pre-installed domestic software on smartphones and computers, according to the official website of the lower house of the Russian parliament.

For officials, the respective fines are to make from 30,000 to 50,000 rubles (about $400 to $700 at the current exchange rate), for legal entities - from 50,000 to 200,000 rubles ($700 to $3,000), the statement reads.

Russia’s consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor is to make decisions in relevant cases, according to the proposed amendments.

Specific lists of devices and software, as well as the procedure of pre-installation is to be determined by the Government of the Russian Federation.
