MOSCOW, September 19 (RAPSI) – Lawmakers of the State Duma have submitted a bill on renovation of housing in Russia to the lower house of parliament.

The stated purpose of the bill is prevention of housing dilapidation. The document grants authorities a right to implement renovation programs using funds from regional budgets and other lawful sources of income.

The bill introduces a legal term of housing renovation defined as reconstruction or demolition of housing objects that could not be subjected to major repair works as well as new construction on the freed land. Authorities also receive power to finance and improve living conditions of citizens, who in turn receive guarantees to protection of their living rights.

In August 2017, authorities adopted a program of housing renovation in Moscow.
