MOSCOW, August 8 (RAPSI) - Irina Yarovaya, Chair of the State Duma Committee for Security and Counter-Corruption Measures, announced plans to introduce criminal liability for public officials who send work related information via non-state email services (gmail.com, mail.ru, yandex.ru), Izvestia reports.

“The information available to public officials in relation to their work should only be used within appropriate work communications formats and should not go through cloud services, social networks or sent via common email services,” Yarovaya said. She added that the ban would not extend to public information available in open access.

“The information in question is for internal use only and cannot be disclosed or transferred,” the parliament member said.  The relevant Russian laws will be updated soon with the necessary amendments.
