MOSCOW, July 9 (RAPSI) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a law adding punishment for separatism financing to the country’s Criminal Code, the UNIAN news agency announced, citing the president’s press service.

The law stipulates liability for financing activities that involve violent measures to change or overthrow the constitutional regime, seize power, change territorial boundaries or the state border of Ukraine.

The crime of financing activity aimed at changing territorial boundaries or the state border of Ukraine in violation of the constitution will be punishable by three to five years’ imprisonment, a two-year ban on holding certain government posts and the confiscation of property.

The financing of violence designed to change or overthrow the constitutional government and seize power will be punishable by five to seven years in prison, a two-year ban on holding certain government posts and the confiscation of property.
