MOSCOW, April 8 - RAPSI. Over 100 Communist Party and A Just Russia MPs, including the party leaders, have signed a request for the Constitutional Court to check the legality of the ratification of the World Trade Organization accession protocol, a Communist MP told RIA Novosti on Monday.

First Deputy Chairman of the Communist Party Central Committee Ivan Melnikov said that the request was submitted on April 4.

Melnikov said they have several concrete complaints. First, the Russian regions were not consulted on the protocol. The federal authorities should have asked the opinion of the regions in advance, because the accession to the WTO was the joint responsibility of the federal and regional authorities.

Second, "when the ratification of the protocol was considered, several important conclusions and supplements (to it) had not yet been translated into Russian," and so many people were unable to gauge their full implications.

The protocol on Russia's accession to the Marrakesh Agreement became effective in August 2012. Russia had been negotiating its entry to the WTO for about 18 years
