MOSCOW, November 24 - RAPSI. The idea to deprive jurors of the right to hear corruption cases will damage the justice system in Russia, renowned attorneys told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) on Thursday.

President Dmitry Medvedev met with employees of the Prosecutor General's Office, Interior Ministry and Investigative Committee and civil society members on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Yelena Lychak, the chief prosecutor of the St. Petersburg State Prosecution Department, proposed to withdraw the criminal cases on corruption from the jury trial's jurisdiction.

"On the one hand, the decision to reduce proceedings in jury trials result in indignation from society, but, on the other hand, as people who have a legal education, we understand that not all trials should be heard by a jury," the president said.
