MOSCOW, March 4 (RAPSI) – Russian investigators launched over 400 criminal cases following journalist investigations and mass media publications in 2019, according to the Investigative Committee’s Chairman Alexander Bastrykin.

Public trust is a main criterion of assessment of the law enforcement professional activity, Bastrykin has said during an extended meeting of the Investigative Committee’s panel. In 2019, over 440,000 citizens’ applications were considered, over 160,000 people were personally appointed; over 400 criminal cases were opened based on media reports, he has added.

Bastrykin has also pointed that investigators immediately had reacted on all socially important and highly publicized incidents, crimes against person, economic, environment, medicine offenses and crimes and violation of the citizens’ constitutional rights.
