MOSCOW, January 22 (RAPSI) – A court in the city of Cheboksary on Tuesday ordered release of activist Alexey Mironov, who had been convicted of extremism and calling for a coup over his publications on VKontakte social network, lawyer Yury Ivanov told RAPSI.

Mironov is expected to leave a penal colony on February 2, the attorney added.

In September 2017, Mironov was found guilty of extremism and received 27 months in penal colony settlement after he published two posts on VKontakte which were recognized by investigators as calling for a coup. Later, the convict was transferred to a penal colony allegedly because of repeated violations of internal regulations, Ivanov said.
