MOSCOW, November 23 (RAPSI) – The Moscow District Military Court on Friday convicted three individuals of plotting a terrorist attack during FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017, RAPSI reported from the courtroom.

Fokshan Golob, who was additionally found guilty of illegal weapon and explosive trafficking, received 9 years in penal colony, while two other defendants, Adam Gakayev and Ibragim Gakayev were sentenced to 7 years each.

The three men were arrested in Moscow in summer 2017, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee said. Weapons and explosives were seized from them.

According to investigation, they planned to commit a terrorist attack during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. They coordinated their actions via Telegram messenger, investigators claimed.

Golub has pleaded guilty to illegal ammunition trafficking; two other defendants have denied wrongdoing.
