MOSCOW, September 24 (RAPSI) – The Zavodsky District Court of Oryol in Southern Russia has ordered a prisoner to pay the Kursk Regional Penal Colony One 120,000 rubles ($1,800) as compensation for his maintenance, the press-service of the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) has stated.

The court found that the prisoner was sentenced to 10 years in a penal colony, where he was supplied with food and other basic items. During his stay in prison, the penal colony spent nearly 120,000 rubles on his maintenance.

It was noted that administration of the penal colony offered the prisoner a paid work position, but he vehemently refused the offer despite not being incapable.
