MOSCOW, August 6 (RAPSI) – The deputy head of the security department of the Kaliningrad Regional Penal Colony Nine, major Davran Khakimov, has been put in detention as part of a criminal case over beating of an inmate, lawyer Natalya Lyutaya has told RAPSI.

The defendant is charged with abuse of office with the use of violence.

According to investigators, in late January, Khakimov along with other unidentified employees of the penal colony participated in a beating of an inmate Nikolay Kartavykh, which resulted in severe injuries of the latter. Investigators are identifying other participants in the torture, the lawyer noted.
