MOSCOW, February 26 (RAPSI) – An alleged organizer of the international hacking network Avalanche wanted by law enforcement authorities of 30 countries has been arrested in Ukraine, the press release of the country's National Police reads.

On Monday, the suspect will come before a court in the Ukrainian city of Poltava for applying a measure of restraint, according to the statement.

During a search conducted in his apartment, law enforcement officers found a Ukrainian passport in the name of another person. The arrested individual has allegedly used it to enter Kiev.

Avalanche has operated for 7 years, according to the police. On November 30, 2016, law enforcement officers carried out an international special operation aimed to liquidate the cybernetwork. Back then, a 33-year old local resident was arrested on suspicion of the group organization. However, a court refused to detain the suspect in December 2016; he fled and later was put on the international wanted list.

The hacking network was allegedly used as a platform for global cyber attacks and money laundering. Damage caused by hackers is estimated at 6 million euros in Germany, and hundreds of millions of euros all over the world.
