MOSCOW, May 18 (RAPSI, Yevgeniya Sokolova) – A court has sentenced Vladimir Zubakin, former prosecutor of the Russian city of Engels in the Saratov Region, to 8.5 years in prison for taking bribes, the Investigative Committee announced on its website on Thursday.

He was also found guilty of fraud and abuse of office.

Additionally, Zubakin was fined 5 million rubles ($86,400). The court also deprived him of the rank of Counsellor in Justice and forfeited his assets amounting to 850,000 rubles ($14,700).

According to investigation, between 2012 and 2015, Zubakin being a prosecutor committed fraud, abused authority and took bribes for actions included in his powers.
