MOSCOW, September 12 (RAPSI) – Defense of acting head of Interior Ministry’s anti-corruption department Dmitriy Zakharchenko, who is charged with receiving large-scale bribe, appealed his detention, asking to release him on 70 million rubles ($1 mln) bail, RIA Novosti reports on Tuesday.

On Saturday the Presnensky District Court of Moscow detained Zakharchenko until November 8 as a part of a large corruption case. Earlier it was reported that during searches at Zakharchenko’s place a huge amount of money was found, valued at 8-9 billion rubles ($123-138 mln). The policeman was unable to tell where the money came from.

Officially Zakharchenko is charged with receiving 7 million rubles ($107,600) bribe from unknown source. According to investigators, money was transferred at the end of December 2015.
