MOSCOW, August 27 (RAPSI) - Moscow courts have ruled Wednesday to shut down for 90 days two McDonald’s restaurants in central Moscow over sanitary violations, RAPSI correspondent reports.

Moscow's Tverskoi District Court ruled that McDonald’s restaurant next to Kremlin violates sanitary regulations, which, under the Code of Administrative Offenses, is punishable by either a fine or suspension.

The similar ruling was passed by the Ostankinsky District Court which ordered that McDonald’s restaurant on Prospekt Mira street should be closed.

McDonald’s vows to appeal against the judgments. “We disagree with the judgments, we will file an appeal in accordance with the established procedure. We will do our best to secure successful business of our company in Russia," RIA Novosti quoted McDonald's representative Svetlana Polyakova as having said.

The restaurants were suspended as a result of unscheduled inspections by Russia’s food safety watchdog Rospotrebnadzor on August 20.

The agency said that inspections of McDonald’s restaurants would continue.

A representative of the agency’s local departments reported that last week inspections of McDonald’s restaurants began in Central Russian regions. Aside from Moscow and the Moscow Region, mass inspections encompass 16 regions.
