MOSCOW, August 8 (RAPSI) - The Moscow City Court has temporarily blocked an unlicensed YouTube video under anti-piracy legislation, the official court website reports.

Earlier, the court blocked access to pirated versions of Russian and foreign films, animated cartoons and TV series. The latest ruling bans the Hologram video by Russia’s FRANKY music band, posted on the YouTube ELLO channel without the copyright holder’s permission. Video Content Co., who owns the rights, requested that the video be blocked, and it has 15 days to file a lawsuit to completely block the video otherwise the ruling will lapse.

The anti-piracy law that was passed by the State Duma on June 21, 2013 states expressly that the Moscow City Court shall be the only court with jurisdiction over copyright holder requests to block illegal content. Pirated content will be removed under this court’s rulings, and websites failing to comply will be blocked.
