MOSCOW, October 23 (RAPSI) - The Moscow District Federal Commercial Court has upheld the Russian Federal Migration Service's decision to fine McDonald's for employing an illegal immigrant without a work permit, the court told RAPSI on Wednesday.

The court thus dismissed a cassation appeal filed by the company.

On January 22, the Federal Migration Service's Moscow Department inspected the fast food chain for compliance with migration law.

The inspectors established that the chain hired a woman from Kyrgyzstan who did not have a work permit and imposed an administrative fine on the company. According to the law on the legal status of foreign nationals in Russia, employers are only allowed to hire foreigners who have work permits.

The Moscow Commercial Court studied the case materials and agreed with the inspectors conclusion, thus rejecting the company's arguments that the woman showed documents in another persons name when she applied for the job.

McDonald's in September appealed the Moscow Commercial Court's decision to uphold the fine.
