MOSCOW, August 24 - RAPSI. The Supreme Commercial Court has registered an appeal by Pravda.Ru on the supervisory review of the court ruling which dismissed the recovery of 1.1 million rubles ($34,600) in compensation for the distribution of Andrei Karaulov's film "Khodorkovsky. Pipes/Corpses" from Yandex, a major Russian Internet search engine, the court spokesperson told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) on Friday.

According to the plaintiff, the defendant reproduced and distributed Karaulov's film on its website on March 16. The plaintiff holds a license contract, giving it the rights to the movie.

The lawsuit reads that the film was shown on the website under the Yandex logo. Additionally, over 50 texts were posted on Yandex to which the plaintiff also holds the rights.

The Moscow Commercial Court dismissed the lawsuit in full on July 25, 2011, but Pravda.Ru appealed the ruling at the court of appeals. The court ended these proceedings on October 28, 2011, as the term to appeal the trial court decision had expired.

On January 20, 2012, the Moscow District Federal Commercial Court validated the lawfulness of the court acts in the case.

Pravda.Ru is the founder of an on-line publication of the same name. It was established in 1999 by journalists, who previously worked for Pravda daily, after the editorial board divided due to the sale of the newspaper.
