MOSCOW, December 7 - RAPSI. The investigation of a high-profile case on the beating of Kommersant daily journalist Oleg Kashin has not been closed and will be investigated until the end, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"I am not at liberty to disclose information I receive from the investigative authorities. The information is confidential. The necessary investigative procedures are being conducted. All the evidence has not been collected so far, but the case is not closed and it will be completed," Medvedev said.

Everyone should understand that not all cases can be solved within the first few months, Medvedev said.

"If we had apprehended those responsible within two or three days, then the case would have been solved without delay," the prime minister said.

Kashin, who had harshly criticized the authorities, the president and the government, was severely beaten in the early hours of November 6, 2010 and was hospitalized in serious condition. The same day Medvedev charged Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika and Interior Minister Rasheed Nurgaliyev with taking the investigation under direct control and to do everything necessary to solve the crime.
