MOSCOW, September 18 (RAPSI) – Children’s rights commissioner Anna Kuznetsova during an alignment meeting held in Pskov on Tuesday reported a rise in the teen crime rate in Russia, the ombudsman’s press service told RAPSI.

According to Kuznetsova, the number of young criminals at the age from 14 to 15 increased from 30 to 35% in 2017.

Incidents connected with teenager’s cruelty and aggression could make assertions about poor effectiveness of educational work in schools, the ombudsman stated.

Kuznetsova proposed renewal of educational programs in schools and organization of the all-Russian monitoring of implementation of emerging standards to lower the number of crimes and offenses involving minors.
