SARATOV, September 17 (RAPSI) – Ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova said Monday that the national human rights observance strategy must be developed in Russia, RAPSI reported from a human rights conference held in Saratov.

According to Moskalkova, such a document would shape a state policy concerning improvement of mechanism for observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms for some years to come.

Moreover, the strategy could unite together efforts of authorities and public institutions to create favorable environment for realization of people’s rights and freedoms, she noted.

The conference “Human rights as an indicator of national development”, which takes place in Saratov from September 16 to 18, brought together about 200 participants, including regional and foreign ombudsmen, local authorities, professors and students. The conference is aimed at discussion and analysis of burning problems of developing and guaranteeing human rights, analysis of current legislation and generation of proposals for its improvement.
