MOSCOW, September 5 (RAPSI) – Measures taken by Russia’s Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation have led to 40% drop in national alcohol consumption per capita over the last 12 years, the body’s chief Igor Alyoshin has stated.

According to the official, consumption of alcohol beverages is still at a sufficiently high level and this problem requires continuous attention.

Among measures taken by the service are control over minimal prices for alcohol, implementation of the monitoring system, counteracting illegal production and distribution of alcohol, control over enforcement of state standards.
