MOSCOW, August 17 (RAPSI) – A 1.2-billion-ruble ($18 million) cyber fraud case against two Ural residents Constantine Melnik and Igor Makovkin has been forwarded to a court in Yekaterinburg for hearing, the press service of Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office reports Friday.

Melnik and Makovkin are charged with participation in a criminal organization, cyber fraud, hacking as well as creation, use and distribution of malicious computer programs, the statement reads.

According to investigators, the defendants along with other gang members created malicious software via the Internet and using it they stole 1.2 billion rubles from different bank accounts.

Moreover, the alleged cyber fraudsters hacked the database of Koltsovo Airport in Ekaterinburg, the statement reads.

The defendants are currently in detention.
