MOSCOW, April 6 (RAPSI) – Russia does not plan to withdraw from the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the official representative of the Russian Federation at the court Mikhail Galperin has said during the meeting on the modern discourse on international legal human rights protection.

Galperin said that there are enough people in Strasbourg willing to engage in constructive conversation with Russia. At the same time Russia finds it very important for appeals that are reviewed in the ECHR to be well rationale instead of serving as a political tool.

According to the Russian official, one of the problems in relationship between Russia and ECHR is the priority of review procedure for different cases. Galperin said that there are quite a lot of people ask why cases on rallies are reviewed before cases concerning more important topics such as life, torture and others. He said that there is a need to establish a clear system of priority for a fruitful cooperation with the court to take place.
