MOSCOW, March 12 (RAPSI) - The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has opened a case against VimpelCom (Beeline brand), one of Russia’s top mobile operators, over roaming violations, the watchdog’s statement published on its website on Monday reads.

According to the statement, a report concerning cancelling the intra-network roaming submitted by the company failed to meet requirements of the watchdog’s warnings.

Last week, FAS launched a similar case against two other top mobile operators MTS and MegaFon.

The watchdog revealed during the check that the national long-distance call cost offered by MTS, MegaFon and Beeline was exorbitant, as well as introducing an everyday payment for customers staying outside their home region.

On July 14, 2017, the watchdog issued warnings to MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom (Beeline brand) and T2 Mobile (Tele2 brand). FAS announced that the operators’ actions may have violated the competition law by setting different prices for mobile phone service in customer’s home region and in roaming on the territory of Russia.

In late July 2017, the watchdog opened antimonopoly cases against the companies over alleged violation of competition legislation. At that time, all four mobile operators expressed readiness to enforce the warning.

In December, the watchdog found that Tele2 offers satisfied the order’s requirements.
