Russian police detect over 12,000 members of suicidal social media groups
MOSCOW, October 3 (RAPSI, Nikolay Merkulov) – Over 12,000 members of the so-called Groups of Death have been found on the Internet, Russia’s Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday.
Moreover, about 1,400 suicidal groups have been revealed, the statement reads.
According to the Interior Ministry’s press service, police officers are working in cooperation with Russia’s communications watchdog Roskomnadzor and social networks’ administration to promptly block such groups and accounts related to them and therefore, to check the growth of illegal content.
Recently, over 230 criminal cases have been opened against suicidal groups’ admins and curators, in the age from 13 to 25 years predominantly, the Interior Ministry reports.
