MOSCOW, May 5 (RAPSI) – The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia has reprimanded the Head of the Federal Customs Service Andrei Belyaninov for violations of legislation regarding rights of entrepreneurs and demanded to solve these issues, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday.

All required measures have already been taken by the Federal Customs Service, the official representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office Alexander Kurennoi said.

According to Kurennoi, these actions were carried out as a result of the inspection of Customs Service’s compliance with upholding of rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurs, conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office in February and March of 2016.

“The inspection revealed selective approach to the classification of goods, violation of legislation by the officials conducted in the interests of particular economic players, what resulted in different rates of customs duties for the import of the same goods,” Kurennoi said.

According to Kurennoi, for some entrepreneurs imported steam cleaners were classified by the customs authorities as electric irons subject to a 10 % customs duty, while for some others the same product was classified as fire extinguishers, which are imported duty-free.

Among other measures, special inspections have been organized to address the issue of disciplinary responsibility of Customs Service officials found guilty of infringements.
