MOSCOW, February 9 (RAPSI) – More than 15,300 car crashes were caused in Russia by drunk and drugged drivers in 2015, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday.

According to Main Directorate for Road Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (GIBDD),  4,000 people have died in these car crashes, around 27,500 have been wounded. Compared to 2014 data the amount of casualties last year increased by around 16%, amount of wounded decreased by 4%.

Every 10th car crash in Russia is caused by drunk or drugged driving, according to statistics published by the road police.

Overall policemen have counted 159,000 car crashes in 2015. In 15,300 cases it has been confirmed that drivers have been drunk, while in 4,500 cases drivers refused to take medical tests.
