YEKATERINBURG, August 22 ( RAPSI) – Laboratory tests carried out by the Sverdlovsk regional department of Russia’s food safety watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, showed that Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Liqueur contained substance that causes allergic reactions and affects the nervous system, RIA Novosti reported Friday.

A series of lab tests have exposed benzyl ethers of benzoic acid contained in the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Liqueur. This substance is widely used as an acaricide and can cause allergic reactions, affect the central and peripheral nervous systems, the statement of the agency reads.

Rospotrebnadzor earlier ordered to remove from sale Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and Jim Beam American Whiskey Bourbon produced in the United States for alleged failure to comply with safety requirements.

Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey wasn’t verified as compliant with the Standard Sanitary Regulations, according to the agency.

Administrative cases were opened against the stores that were selling the beverages.
