MOSCOW, July 11 (RAPSI) – Germany’s justice minister, Heiko Maas, has called on the United States to stop its spying and surveillance activity in Germany, Passauer Neue Presse newspaper wrote on Friday.

According to Maas, Germany should demand a firm commitment from Washington that US intelligence agencies will end these activities “once and for all.”

The German administration has already limited the cooperation of its intelligence agency BND and the Defense Ministry with the US after two alleged US spies were uncovered at these institutions. Germany also ordered the US spy station chief to leave the country on Thursday.

Last week, a BND agent was arrested on suspicion of passing confidential information to a US contact, including details of a parliamentary committee’s investigation of former NSA intelligence contractor Edward Snowden’s allegations of American spying in Germany.

This Wednesday, Sueddeutsche Zeitung wrote about a second suspected US spy, allegedly an employee of the German defense ministry, saying that the case was believed to be more serious than last week’s.
