MOSCOW, July 4 (RAPSI) - The Czech police have arrested a Ukrainian citizen who identified himself as a representative of Ukrspetsexport, a Ukrainian state-run company, as he attempted to sell weapons to terrorists, Ceske Noviny reports.

The suspect was arrested at a Sheraton hotel where he offered Kalashnikov assault rifles, mortar guns and surface-to-air missiles to US security service agents who were posing as militants of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Also involved in the ‘negotiations’ were two citizens of Côte d'Ivoire who were interested in the drug trade from Columbia. They were also arrested.

The transaction that was discussed in the hotel room was worth around $8 million.

The US officials started this investigation of drug and weapons trafficking three years ago. The suspects were arrested at the hotel in Prague with a US court warrant. The court is now requesting the extradition of the detainees. Ceske Noviny reports that the Czech Republic and the US are bound by a mutual extradition agreement.
