MOSCOW, May 14 (RAPSI) - Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev announced that Russia has nominated Major General Alexander Prokopchuk, Head of the Interpol National Central Bureau of the Russian Interior Ministry, for the Interpol Executive Committee.

The press service of the National Central Bureau told RIA Novosti that it is the first time Russia has nominated a delegate. “It is the first time for Russia to propose a candidate to the Executive Committee, which is the second highest body after the General Assembly. The Executive Committee is an elective body responsible for complying with the resolutions of the General Assembly, by which it supervises the execution of the decisions of the assembly,” a spokesperson said.

The representative of the National Central Bureau also noted that the Executive Committee consisted of a president, three vice presidents and nine delegates. “Members of the Executive Committee are elected by the General Assembly while delegates are elected by a majority vote for three years.”
