MOSCOW, March 24 (RAPSI) – The police searched the regional offices of the International Committee on the Fight Against Terrorism, Organized Crime and Corruption (ICOCRIM) in Russia. They found weapons and forged documents, the Interior Ministry's Moscow department announced on Monday.

In 2012, the department released a statement alleging that ICOCRIM employees had extorted $1.5 million from a Muscovite. Nine people were detained in the case, four of them the alleged masterminds of the crime. The Tagansky District Court in Moscow issued a ban on the Russian branch of the association in June 2013.

“The regional ICOCRIM offices and their leaders' apartments have been searched in Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don and the Krasnodar Territory. The police found a great deal of material and documentary evidence of involvement in illegal activity,” the statement reads.

The police seized weapons, blanks and forged law enforcement officer and judge IDs that appeared legitimate, as well as fraudulent orders, medals, badges and letters of commendation.

ICOCRIM was established in 1998 to assist UN and EU law enforcement and security agencies. Its head office is located in Paris.
