MOSCOW, April 26 (RAPSI) - Approximately 20% of Russian Internet users have fallen victim to cybercrimes at least twice or lost money to online banking or shopping, Kaspersky Lab reported in a statement.  The world average is 14%.

According to a poll held among members of the Kaspersky Lab community on Facebook (33 countries and regions), 8% of Russians said they fall victim to identity theft and credit card crime once or twice a year. The world average is 10%.

"E-banking and online shopping is booming, and the growing volume of e-money turnover logically vets the interest of cyber criminals," Kaspersky Lab quoted Deputy Director of its Global Research and Analysis Team Sergei Novikov as saying.

The fact that the number of Russian cybercrime victims is one of the largest in the world is evidence that Russians actively use online banking and also have an irresponsible attitude toward security when uploading confidential data from their cards or e-purses.
