MOSCOW, February 19 - RAPSI. The procedure for lifting a debtor's travel restrictions will now only take 12 hours after he pays his debt, the Federal Bailiffs Service told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

Earlier, State Duma deputies forwarded a letter to Artur Parfenchikov, the chief of the service, asking to grant citizens permission to pay their debt at the border and to immediately lift their prohibition from leaving the country.

A notice that the prohibition has been lifted will be forwarded through the Federal Bailiffs Service's headquarters to the Border Service's central office and then sent to border checkpoints, the Federal Bailiffs Service reported.

This will only occur after the debtor transfers the funds to the service's account or the bailiff receives confirmation of the debt's cancellation.

Interdepartmental work is presently underway to streamline the procedure. This will allow the entire procedure to be shortened - from lifting the ban to having the information entered into the Federal Border Service's records. However, the prohibition cannot yet be lifted immediately. A travel restriction is considered an effective measure to collect debt.
