KRASNOYARSK, January 29 - RAPSI. A high-security prison for extremists will open in Yeniseisk in the Krasnoyarsk Territory next spring, Vladimir Shayeshnikov, the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service's regional department, told journalists on Tuesday.

The facility will be used for extremists and terrorists convicted of grave crimes to serve their sentences and will be capable of accommodating 150 inmates, he said. The staff has been specially trained. The project to reconstruct local remand prison facilities as a top security prison cost 62 million rubles and took three years.

"The prison meets all standards and requirements for dealing with such convicts," he said. "It is ready to open once spring navigation begins in Siberia, after several more approvals are obtained."

Eight criminal bosses are presently serving their sentences in the region's prisons, as well as a high-security convict, Nail "Tyson" Kamaletdinov, a pedophile and a rapist who recently organized riots at a prison in Kopeisk.
